We're Open! And we've a new look, too!

This year, the stock in our shop is to an even greater degree than previously hand-made. Scarves, for example : they've always been hand-woven (by Denise), of course, but now more of them are woven with hand-spun yarn, rather than mill-spun ; and there's m...

Denise > Here's some skeins of variegated fine Merino wool that I've been spinning - to knit into lacey garments and accessories. These are a lot of work, as the 2-plied yarn is lighter than DK - '4-ply' weight, in fact. That's a lot of length for the quantity of fibre I started off with!

Denise > I blended a variety of colours of Merino wools to create this lustrous 2-plied handspun yarn. I shall be knitting it up into a Shetland lace shawl. When it's finished, J will add the shawl to the website.

Bought some beautiful wool today to start my first knitting project! It was so hard to pick which colours to buy, there's so much choice and it's so interesting seeing which plants are used to achieve the different colours. The Woolshed is beautiful and the owners were lovely and so helpful, highly recommend!

Very well curated handmade woollens shop on the hebridean way cycle route. I'd forgotten to bring a hat and I bought the perfect one there. Well worth a visit.

Hand-made : Natural, Local, Personal

Here in the old high-walled kitchen garden at Cille Bhrìghde [West Kilbride] in the Outer Hebrides we spin, dye, knit, crochet, weave and felt with wool - especially the black wool from our own flock of Hebridean sheep! - and other natural fibres and materials. We use the traditional tools and techniques we’ve grown familiar with over nearly forty years in producing a variety of unique and high quality yarns, garments, accessories (including kits).

Everything at the Hebridean Woolshed is made by us, is unique, high quality - and is available exclusively at our small shop or online at our own website - with online shop

The shop in the walled garden is open April to September, normally seven days a week, 10am to 5pm. Occasionally we have to close for half day, or more rarely a full day, so if you're planning a special trip, please call us (01878 700828) or email us the day before to check we'll be open. (Our website is, of course, open 24/7/365 !)
